YetepThis weekend at the Monarch Theatre, Space Yacht will be bringing along Alvin Risk, Quix, J Phelpz, and Gerry Gonza for a night to remember. In honor of our feature, DJ to Watch, I’m going to help you get to know Gerry Gonza just a little better.
Also known as Gerardo Arellano, Gerry Gonza started his interest in music at an early age, learning to read, write, and play percussion. He began producing on software after his brother introduced him to dance music and started to pick up dj-ing shortly after. By age 18 he was playing in his first club and in 2016, he decided to take a leap of faith and leave his on-the-rise duo, Thee Cool Cats, to pursue a solo career. Gonza started off on a great note with a remix for Destructo followed by the release of his hit track “Bad Bitches” on Tchami’s imprint Confession.
Gaining support from the likes of Anna Lunoe, AC slater, Shiba San, Wax Motif, and many more, Gerry’s made quite an imprint on the scene, bringing a mixture of melodic synths, driving basslines and drums to form his one of a kind sound.
Gonza likes to include influences from anywhere and everywhere, so expect the unexpected during his set this weekend. Space Yacht always delivers one of a kind events, and with a lineup like this… you won’t want to miss it.
