YetepSince Steven Zhu started his musical journey in 2014 listeners have been craving his unique electronic house sound. He’s come a long way in these 4 years, releasing 3 EP’s, a full-length album, and numerous singles. The DJ and producer uses his own vocals on his tracks, and unlike some other artists in the industry looking to make the dancefloor go crazy, Zhu’s lyrics are packed with meaning and emotions. His somber downtempo beats have crowds fighting back tears while dancing the night away. He has used this style since the very beginning of his career, which is why “Cocaine Model” is this week’s Spin It Back Saturday.
“Cocaine Model” is off of Zhu’s 2014 debut EP Faded. This song is deep and tells a story of two people meeting and hitting it off in a club setting. What makes “Cocaine Model” such a great song is the perfect harmony of bouncy house basslines and gloomy synths. The two different sounds pair together like steak and a fine red wine. When Faded debuted it peaked at #12 on the Billboard Dance Music Charts, instantly getting Zhu a ton of attention.
Arizona will have a chance to witness the mysterious artist live in person when he takes over The Van Buren for two epic nights of vibey music on September 16th (SOLD OUT) and October 24th (Tickets Still Available)! Grab tickets here!
