YetepSpencer Brown creates forward-thinking dance music that defies quick-shifting industry trends, carving his fresh take on the progressive space by creating earworms that incorporate authenticity with accessibility. A longtime contributor to Above & Beyond‘s Anjunabeats label, fans were taken by surprise when bits of acid techno found it’s way into recent sets. What better label to host this new sound from the producer than Deadmau5‘s own mautrap5. Brown said, “When I was 15 my friend burnt me a mixtape featuring some guy named ‘deadmau5.’ Nine years later…I am pleased to be releasing 2 of my darker techno records with him on his legendary label mau5trap.” Brown’s 2-track EP, Windows 95 on Acid, is available now!
Windows 95 on Acid see’s the producer explore a new, deeper territory. He had to, of course, sample the classic Windows 95 startup tune, making the EP title ever so fitting. The title track features tight percussion and a classic techno beat, while “Does Anybody Really Know What Time It Is?” featuring perfectly distorted bleeps and bloops reminiscent of dial-up days.
This EP is dance floor ready and you can hear it live on December 1st, when Spencer Brown joins Andrew Bayer at Shady Park. Grab tickets here.
