Watch It Wednesday: Marshmello & Bastille – ‘Happier’

The tune that has injected smiley faces and warm fuzzies into the nation now has a video that is quite the roller coaster of emotions. Marshmello and Bastille‘s track “Happier” is a soulful and heartwarming ode to doing the right thing, even when it hurts. Marshmello spoke on the song:

When @bastilledan sent me happier for the first time I was taken back. The amount of emotion that you could feel in the lyrics was crazy. As I listened to the song more and more it reminded me of so many things I’ve been through in my life. Toxic relationships, letting go of things I didn’t want to and just situations where happiness came with a sacrifice. Recently I lost my best friend, my companion, my life long friend. I wanted this video to embrace the pain that we feel losing or sacrificing something and the cycle of life that comes with it. I hope this song and video can bring closure in any situation you may be and make us all happier

The sweet tune with the even sweeter sediment takes a climatic approach with the video. Miranda Cosgrove stars in the mini-movie depicting the highs and lows of being a dog mom. We are taken on a journey of watching a little girl walk through life with her furry friend, ultimately having to go through what any pet owner fear, the loss of a friend. Bringing the story full circle, the saga wraps up with tradition being passed down the lineage. Truly showcasing one of the purest forms of happiness, the video storyline will stick with you.
