YetepIt’s time to familiarize yourself with Bontan, a UK-based DJ/Producer who’s taking the underground house scene by storm. He’s become one of the biggest selling acts in Beatport, having been awarded numerous accolades, including Best Newcomer in the DJ Awards, and an award for the biggest selling record of 2013 by Beatport for his remix of Josh Butler’s “Got A Feeling,” which was #1 for six weeks and is still today the second highest selling record of all time on the platform.
The DJ turned producer came from humble beginnings, as he started back in 2011 in the sweaty basements of his west-England hometown. He’s since had a string of releases on various platforms, including Hot Creations, 20/20 Vision, Elrow Music and Circus Recordings.
For this week’s RB Deep in the Mix, get to know Bontan a little better in this BBC Radio Essential Mix.
Bontan has come a long way and seen significant success since his debut EP, The First Time, via Hot Creations. The EP was premiered by Pete Tong on BBC Radio 1 and went on to become Hot Creations’ biggest selling record of the year, with over 300 radio plays worldwide and over 500,000 streams as both tracks from the EP reached #3 (The First Time) and #8 (Personal Questions) in the Beatport Main Chart. With such instant success, it’s clear Bontan has firmly solidified his spot as a household name on the underground circuit.
Catch Bontan at Shady Park on Sunday, December 2. You can purchase tickets here.
