YetepRecord producer, songwriter, and DJ Mark Ronson and country singer/popstar Miley Cyrus have teamed up for an unlikely collaboration that appeals to fans across all genres. While this marks the first collaboration between Cyrus and Ronson, the British producer is no stranger to working with big acts in the industry. He’s had a successful career working with the likes of Bruno Mars, Amy Winehouse, and Lady Gaga, among many more. Cyrus has also had a successful career thus far, and the recent collaboration marks her first release since her Younger Now album back in September 2017.
For this week’s Watch it Wednesday, check out “Nothing Breaks Like a Heart” below.
Mark Ronson ft. Miley Cyrus – Nothing Breaks Like a Heart (Official Music Video)
The video follows Cyrus around on a wild police chase, where she drives through a strip club filled with priests and into a shooting range filled with children firing off rounds. While at first glance, the video might seem playful and fun, the singer has made it clear the track’s lyrics and accompanying video are about something much bigger. “[The song has] really important messages that I wanted to physically share,” Cyrus said. “It was ‘What really breaks our heart?’ And it’s the loss of children, the loss of lives – just all the violence that we see every single day.”
Co-written by Cyrus and Ronson and their team, the track is said to be on Ronson’s forthcoming album, which is set for release next year.
