Trippie Redd’s Delivers Sophomore Album Beyond His Years

Michael Lamar White IV, better known as Trippie Redd, may have first come to your attention via headlines from his involvement with 6ix9ine and XXXTentacion, but don’t let that distract you from his talent.

Since his debut album LIFE’S A TRIP, he has been busy putting together his sophomore album ! (Exclamation Point). Dropped earlier this month, this 13-track album clocks in at just over 36 minutes and features some very powerful producers that help give Redd a polished sound. Diplo, Hammad Beats, OZ and Murda Beatz all contribute in different capacities, and all elevate Redd’s second album on a technical level that isn’t appreciated enough lately.

Each track has a melody at the forefront that doesn’t rely on heavy 808s. Redd has a lot of singing to go along with his verses that make every song sport depth that makes it easy to revisit this album multiple times. Of course if you’re familiar with LIFE’S A TRIP you should already be familiar with, and may go so far as to call this style signature to Redd. You’ll be happy to know ! offers more of that versatile sound, which is impressively mature sounding for the 20-year-old Ohio born rapper.
