YetepCray has always been one of a kind. This Canadian signer-songwriter-producer-gamer is a force to be reckoned with in this Electronic Dance Music era. She came onto the scene hot just a few years ago, lending herself to the Trap side of the tracks. Her sound was raw, rich and riddled with Trap tendencies. Now, after years of singles, shows, festivals, and sets, she is ready to let her guard down with her emotive debut EP entitled, seasons change and so do i. This EP is more of a dark and indie-pop collection and although it’s not what we are used to, we like change when it sounds like this.
For fans who closely follower her, they all seem to have the same thoughts on what sparked such a moving collection of songs. It starts with the K and ends with a….well you get it. Speaking on the 7 new songs, Cray shared these thoughts in the EP.
“This EP was written over a year and half period,” CRAY said of the project in a press release. “The first half of the EP was written when I was in a relationship and was struggling with being okay and happy and the end half I wrote when the relationship ended. It’s very much like a diary and that’s why the artwork is hand made and the songs have dates next to them to explain the journey of when I wrote them.” She adds, “This EP is almost a story of falling out of love with someone and back into love with yourself. It’s angry, sad, hopeful and powerful. My inspiration for this is directly from my experiences and my writing, each song is personal and true to me and the writing process was emotional for me but very therapeutic as well.”
You can see CRAY soon when she performs at Dusk Music Festival alongside Kaskade, REZZ, TOKiMONSTA and more in just TWO weekends. Grab tickets here.
