Dirtybird’s own Kyle Watson is one of the few South African natives to glide across the globe, and now it’s rare to go to any club or festival without encountering a Watson original record. He’s tweaked and developed his eclectic style for over 10 years, with his precision and musicality declaring that it’s established itself as a requisite in any house set or playlist. With groovy melodies melting over gritty basslines, Watson drives a weirdly wonderful sound into the hearts of sweaty nightclubs and festival dancefloors everywhere. One iconic venue that is likely nostalgic for Kyle Watson is The Lab Johannesburg, which he played last year and had recorded for those who want to indulge again and again. Listen below for this week’s RB Deep in the Mix.
Kyle Watson afro-infused tech house set in The Lab Johannesburg
Kyle Watson delivers for his home country by pouring a banging afro-infused tech-house set straight from his heart. Watson heats the alluring club up with a warmth that’s palpable, spinning original after original as well as tracks from Wongo, Billy Kenny, The Sponges, and others. His set possesses a fluidity not so different from thick lava rolling steadily down a hill, bubbling and boiling with a constant and undeniable burn. This might have been partially contributed by the venue, but it’s more than likely this is the passion Watson delivers every time.
Kyle Watson will be bringing a similar experience to Sunbar on April 17th. You can grab your tickets by clicking here.
