Artist Spotlight: Tinlicker

Dutch electronic duo Tinlicker are known as a powerful presence in progressive sound. Members Jordi van Achthoven and Micha Heyboer share an influential and rare sound design expressed by emotive songcraft and computerized soul. Fusing together deep sounds of progressive house music with trance and techno, they’re your favorite DJs favorite DJ.

Prior to joining forces in 2012, Jordi van Achthoven had previously released music as JVA and was a part of projects like Sidesteppers and Essential Groovers, while Micha Heyboer has been known as a member of the renowned drum and bass trio Black Sun Empire. Both artists offer strong musical backgrounds as producers, songwriters, and even music editors who have worked in dance music for over a decade each. Initially, the duo self-released their first few tracks before quickly being noticed by artists like Feed Me, who signed a number of their tracks to his label Sotto Voce. They have since become a household name at other significant labels such as Above and Beyond’s imprint Anjunadeep, deadmau5’s mau5trap, and Armada.

Some of Tinlicker’s most notable releases are “Because You Move Me” with Helsloot, “Voodoo” with Ben Böhmer, “Rebirth” and “Tell Me” with frequent collaborator Hero Baldwin, and “Fade Into Black” with Panama. Their reworks of “Hide U” with Sian Evans and Dom Dolla’s hit “Strangers” are just a few more masterpieces to note.

In 2019, Tinlicker released their first studio album This Is Not Our Universe via Anjunadeep where they gained massive traction and recognition from Billboard, DJ Mag, SiriusXM, and BBC Radio 1. In this past year alone the duo shared two more albums, In Another Lifetime and Perfect Mistakes. Along with releasing an abundance of hits, Tinlicker is also renowned for playing masterful sets all across the globe and has taken over stages at festivals like Tomorrowland, EDC, Ultra, and more. The duo will also be headed to Decadence Arizona at the end of this month to celebrate the New Year.
