Starting off 2023 with a bang, Skrillex has just shared his highly-anticipated collaboration “Rumble” with Fred again.. and Flowdan! Fred again.. first debuted “Rumble” last year during his legendary Boiler Room set in London where fans absolutely lost control over it! With Skrillex having kept a low profile over the past couple of years, this track took many of us completely by surprise. Really coming back in full force, the release of “Rumble” comes paired with Skrillex’s next single “Way Back” featuring PinkPantheress and Trippie Redd.
Check out “Rumble” and “Way Back” via OWSLA/Atlantic below:
Reminding us that he’s the OG of any genre, Skrillex showcases two major tunes that are on opposite ends of the electronic spectrum. “Rumble” is a gritty bass-driven dancefloor anthem with grime legend Flowdan while “Way Back” is a playful and bouncy drum ‘n’ bass tune featuring PinkPantheress and Trippie Redd.
After sharing a video teaser earlier this week captioned “QFF/DGTC 23” followed by the swift rollout of these two new singles, we can definitely expect a double album from Skrillex later this year.
“Rumble” and “Way Back” mark Skrillex’s first official releases since 2021 with “Rumble” being one of the most sought-after IDs of 2022. After completely wiping his Instagram clean, Skrillex shared yet another teaser on New Year’s Day packed full of unreleased IDs from the forthcoming album. The double album will be Skrillex’s first solo project since Recess in 2014.
Keeping us on our toes, Skrillex, Fred again.. and Four Tet also announced a last-minute surprise gig in London yesterday that sold out instantly. If this is how Skrillex is starting off the New Year, there is no telling what other surprises he has in store for us next. 2023 is undoubtedly shaping up to be yet another amazing year dedicated to our EDM founding father, Sonny Moore.
