YetepAre you ready to get FUNKADELIC?!? The Porty Hord tour is set for a collision course with the Sonoran Desert on Saturday, April 13th. Please be sure to hydrate and bring your earplugs accordingly.
Genre-blending masters of funk The Floozies are scheduled to perform at the intimate Darkstar venue in Downtown Tempe, in celebration of their 2023 release Porty Hord. Support will be provided by MZG, who is featured on the track “Denim” and Father Funk, who makes an appearance on “Motor Mouth.” The duo are best known for their zesty mix of EDM/dubstep, funk, jazz, Hip-Hop, R&B, etc, also known as “electro-funk.” They also make eclectic featured appearances with other heavy hitting artists, like GRiZ. They are sure to put on a MAGNIFICENT show. You will not want to miss this. Tickets are live NOW.
Denim is a heart-warming homage to The Floozies preferred texture of pants (and clothing in general..probably) and the unabashed confidence that comes with rocking their chosen fits. Memorable lines such as “check the drip, it’s my denim,” and “you’re jealous of my denim” get the track off to a rolling start. The thick, lumbering bass meshes well with the synth melodies and precise percussion. The introduction to “Motor Mouth (Feat. Father Funk)” is EDM inspired, but then promptly switches to (what sounds like) a live heavy metal show straight out of the 80s, before layering the FUNK right on top. That is three separate genre switches in the track’s short runtime thus far. A heavy/funky hybrid drop directly proceeds this, with a catchy “OOOOO YEAHHHHH” plays in the background, likely from a talkbox instrument. This song catches you off guard on numerous occasions, making for a fun listen every time.
