Founders of the Deep, Dark, and Dangerous record label, Truth has become one of the leading names in what some fans would call proper dubstep. That is not to say that the more upbeat, metal sounding American dubstep and tearout is not amazing with its own intricate history and origins. The blending of dubstep, drum & bass, jungle, and deep dub is something that is much more minutia over the pond. In the UK, you can still hear artists such as Alix Perez and Monty who seem to create an imaginary bridge between genres. Both of these greats are both UK dub and DnB at the same time. It is the true UK dubstep that Truth has been able to master and help turn into a worldwide genre. They are one step closer with their most recent release, “Online Overdose.”
This most recent release from the deep dubstep masters incorporates a true dubstep feel through PAV4N. With his distinct cadence and the signature accent from India, there is no doubting that this has been making waves across the globe. Truth has been mixing this tune out for a few months and never fails to get a reaction. Whether that be the crowd simultaneously throwing down or going berserk, every time PAV4N gets on the mic there is going to be energy in the tune. This most recent release is no exception. We cannot talk about “Online Overdose” without talking about Ashez. Ashez is another artist, similar to Truth, who come from down under. The New Zealand native has helped Truth make New Zealand a true haven and home for 140 bass or dubstep. There is no arguing that “Online Overdose” is the best new dubplate for any true dub fans.
