Speed house genre’s leading female producer CHYL joins forces with burgeoning melodic bass artist Skybreak on energetic debut collaboration, “Euphoria Rush,” on Monstercat Uncaged. From a career on Wall Street to the electrifying world of speed house music, CHYL has proven that breaking free from societal norms and expectations can lead to extraordinary success. As the genre’s leading female producer, she has set a path for women in the EDM scene, capturing the attention of heavyweights like Steve Aoki, Marshmello, and Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike. She has graced the stages of iconic festivals such as Tomorrowland, EDC Las Vegas, and HARD Summer, leaving audiences in complete awe. CHYL’s soundscapes are a perfect reflection of her racing-inspired persona: energetic, fast-paced, and relentlessly thrilling. Embracing her unique brand, she has taken her shows to unconventional venues like auto repair shops and K1 speed arenas, turning every performance into a high-octane experience. By merging her passion for speed with her musical talent, CHYL is not only redefining the EDM landscape but also accelerating towards the top.
Skybreak is renowned for his ability to blend intricate melodies with emotive and jazzy bass, a unique sound that has garnered him support from some of the biggest names in the industry, including Illenium, Alison Wonderland, and SLANDER. Skybreak’s impressive list of performances include major festivals such as EDC Las Vegas and Rampage Open Air. His music resonates with a wide audience, drawing in fans who appreciate the depth and technical skill in his work – this has led him to secure three records in the top ten songs of Monstercat’s ‘Best of 2023’ compilation album. Skybreak is on a clear path to becoming the next big thing in melodic bass. In “Euphoria Rush,” not only did the duo blend their signature speed house and melodic, color bass soundscapes, but they ventured into new territory with an experimental techno drop, exploring various versions of the kick drum and bass combo. The result is an off-the-walls anthemic tune, packed with catchy melodies and unpredictable drops.
“Euphoria Rush” was my introduction to the genres of Speed house and color bass and a great first impression of the genre and talent. A perfect balance between speed, adrenaline, and melody. The track begins with steady spongey drums, a consistent wagging bassline, and bright tones. Around the thirty second mark, “Euphoria Rush” ascends into a kaleidoscopic dream realm with multiple layers of bright, digitized synths and plampy drums. Clap effects effortlessly bounce off of the loop, while the drums gradually speed up and grow more intense. Beautiful vocals are also woven in and out of the colorful layers in this one-of-a-kind track. “Don’t want to let it show.” A single synth layer and rhythmic, shifting drums (along with a laser blast and some cowbell) bring us into the first drop.
This drop features grimy bass that contrasts with the bright synth patterns, rolling soundscapes, and vocals that shuffle along with the beat. Tech-House inspired drums march along with the galloping bass and euphoric elements (pun slightly intended) before bridging back to the ‘verse.’ The beat descends and spirals. Another round of cowbell means another drop. The second drop is dynamic and takes on more of a slow, full-bodied chugging effect. As opposed to the adrenaline filled elements that previously populated the majority of the runtime. A bit more of a classic dubstep approach. House hi-hats and the familiar, galloping bassline dance with the vocals while the drums maintain the beat. Euphoric crescendoes greet us once again to build to final drop. The build up takes a bit longer this time around. But it is WORTH IT. “Euphoria Rush” transforms into a full-on techno romp, with the bassline dropping an octave or two. The drop concludes, descending into a beautiful bridge with majestic keyboards and whoosh effects.
This song is an absolute RIDE from start to finish. Discovering this genre is an absolute game-changer. “Euphoria Rush” encapsulates everything cool about the EDM scene and electronic music as a whole. The nostalgic feel on this one brings listeners back to the eclectic electronic sounds of late 2000s – early/mid 2010’s. Both collaborators bring their A-Game on this one. Creating an unforgettable track with endless replay value. Listen NOW to hear every majestic detail of “Euphoria Rush” for yourselves.
CHYL shares:
“Skybreak and I had the idea of trying to combine melodic bass and speed house since it’s the same BPM. We tried a couple different variations of the drops and honestly loved all of them, so we kept them all and ended up with 3 different drops! Speed house, melodic bass, and techno. The drop variation and strong vocal hook keeps it moving forward, and I hope this tune can become a Monstercat favorite!”
Skybreak adds:
“My followers should be well aware by now that I’m a fan of willing hilariously unexpected collabs into existence. So when I saw speed house queen CHYL was making her debut in my hometown of NYC earlier this year, the concept of a Speed House x Colour Bass crossover instantly invigorated us both. We absolutely speedrun this tune in time for the show, and the result was exactly as the title would suggest, euphoric and FAST PACED!”
CHYL is on a huge run of shows, gearing up to take over Breakaway Mass in September, a
sold-out show at Rickshaw Stop in San Francisco, 45 East opening for Habstrakt, and more. Skybreak is set to take the stage at Lost Lands this fall and has a back-to-back performance with Ace Aura at the iconic Hollywood Palladium in December with other shows on the horizon.
