Dubstep Dive: Weekly Review of New Dubstep & Bass Music

This week has been chalk full of some amazing new dubstep for fans of deep and wobbly tunes. From new music for DDD (Deep Dark and Dangerous) fans to the release of the first collaborations between Ganja White Night and Wooli, there has been something for everyone to celebrate and enjoy.

To start out the releases this week, Stoned Level brought the heat with Muerte. The perfect combination of brostep, the more aggressive and metal version of dubstep, and riddim which embraces choppy and minimalistic sound design. Fans of Marauda and Svdden Death should be sure to check out this new release, which came out earlier in the week.

Next on the list of amazing bass music released is the remix album from Distinct Motive, one of the artists of the summer. Bursting onto the scene in a huge way with his hit song, “Mellow Man,” Distinct Motive has returned to Deadbeats to release a handful of his favorite remixes. Whether you have had the chance to catch one of these remixes at any of his shows this summer or not, I can assure you that there is something here that every bass fan will love.

FuntCase, founder and curator of the illustrious DPMO record label has returned to the release radar with his new EP, Job for a DJ. This 5 song EP is one of the most nasty and aggressive releases on this list. With more of the classic UK inspired riddim from FuntCase, these new tunes have enough energy to make anyone want to run through a wall in the best way.

In local news, Phoenix bass up-and-comer gh6stnote, pronounced “Ghostnote,” has released a new three-song project where he embraced raced more of the melodic sound. From deep heavy bass lines that push any sound system to the max to a creative drum kit, this new music is just a little taste of what gh6stnote has cooking. Be sure to tune in to Low End Lab, our bass music promoters, on social media to catch his next show and learn more about all of the amazing bass artists we bring to the Valley.

No dubstep review would be complete without mentioning one of the most awaited projects of the summer. Ganja White Night and Wooli have finally released their two-song collaboration EP, Rise Up. Be sure to check out both of these wobbly tunes below.

To wrap it up, we have two new releases on Deep Dark and Dangerous from none other than Jleon. This DDD artists has been very impressive over the past few years, developing his sound design and skills to become a staple on one of the leading melodic and deep dub labels.

Releasing a single mid-week, “The Arrival” and another tune “No Way Out” on Friday, there is no telling how far this artist can go.
