YetepWhile albums give artists the space to create immersive worlds within their music, I believe EPs can be just as impactful, even though they typically contain fewer songs. EPs allow an artist to capture a fleeting moment in history, and with their compact nature, they can distill emotion, power, and artistry into a shorter, more focused experience. EPs deserve celebration, and this is the Greatest EP by EP series. I hope you enjoy it.
Levity – Escapism – Released in 2024
Levity is a true rising star, and I have no doubt that in time, they’ll be headlining festivals. Their ability to bring something fresh to the often oversaturated bass scene has earned them tremendous support from the community. Levity strategically released only singles up until 2024, building momentum, but now they’ve taken things to the next level with their first EP, Escapism Vol. 1!
This EP is a concept album centered around the theme of escaping reality. It’s the biggest project Levity has ever undertaken, and wow, does it deliver. The flow from one song to the next is seamless, creating an immersive journey rather than just a collection of tracks. The first track with a drop, “Ignition,” sets the tone perfectly, showcasing the incredible bass movement that Levity is known for. The second drop is a true standout, featuring a hybrid glitch-dubstep drop loaded with perfectly placed accents that elevate the entire track. Other highlights include “One for You” with Alleycvt and “Jade”, both of which bring down the house every time they’re played. And who could forget their hit “Flip It,” with those muted bass notes that practically tickle your brain? This EP is a masterpiece and an absolute must-add to your playlists!
Levity shows no signs of slowing down. This is just the beginning of what promises to be an incredible career, and I can’t wait for them to release more music. They recently performed at Sunbar, and here’s hoping they’ll make their way back to Arizona soon!
