Dubstep Dive: Voyd 2.5 Is Imminent

Svdden Death is one of the most unique names in dubstep and riddim not only for his ‘out of this world’ energy, but for his creativity as well. There is something special in the air when Svdden Death is on the decks that turns the energy up to 12. This is best displayed through the development, detail, and evolution of his alter ego, Voyd.

Known for wearing a moose skull mask, Voyd is my current favorite artist and someone that I have traveled the country to see. Voyd 2 was one of the biggest dubstep albums of the last five years. Released in 2022, Voyd 2 has become one of the most celebrated albums, with artists playing these songs out in their sets since its release. The Voyd name is one that can be hard to come by at some times. There seem to be cycles where Svdden Death will perform as Voyd versus when he prefers to stick with Svdden Death. 

Voydome was the return of Voyd in a major way in the States and was another of Svdden Death’s Signature events. I was able to attend and to say that the show has a lasting impact is an understatement. This was one of the best shows that I have seen. The level of details that Svdden Death puts into all aspects of his Voyd sets as well as the lore and story is inspiring. Levitating, into the middle of the screens, which were see-through to give the illusion that he was inside of the visual, was just one of the many tricks and ways that Voydome was immersive.

Along with the show came the announcement of Voyd 2.5, which is a remix album that was teased by Svdden Death at the conclusion of the show. Voyd 2.5 has some of the most insane remixes I have ever heard. Rumored to contain remixes from Tabe B, Syzy, and Of The Trees, this is one album that is not going to want to miss. Fans of Svdden Death and of riddim should be happy to know that this next release from Voyd is going to be full of remixes and potentially a few new IDs as was the case with Voyd 1.5 which was released after the first Voyd album in 2018.
