Vakabular & Papa Layan Drop Mind-Bending Collaboration, ‘BRAAH’

Apple Music recommendations have been on FIRE lately. I have been introduced to several wild releases that defy convention and genre. This has greatly expanded my taste and musical horizons, while introducing me to several innovative producers. Today’s example of this is “BRAAH” by Vakabular & Papa Layan. “BRAAH” is a House-based track that expands upon the formula, introducing several inventive elements that push the genre’s boundaries. The track immediately gets into the groove with trance-like synths and the kicks/hi-hats that the House genre is known for. This drum pattern expands to include tapping cymbals and prominent cowbell, a genre rarity. A chanting flow is introduced, giving the song a Drum and Bass feel as well. That is a mix of three genres in thirty seconds. Simply outstanding!

The keyboards are introduced and sound like they straight out of seventh-inning stretch. This gives the track a slow weave that perfectly meshes with the mid-tempo rhythm section. Blaring foghorns give “BRAAH” even more of a DnB vibe before it swings back into a House groove. This groove is subtle and backed by cymbals and sweeping transitions. A brief, bassy fade out and chanting builds anticipation for the next section. A gradual build-up drops us right back into the multi-genre groove before “BRAAH” humbly fades out. This is a thoroughly mind-blowing track that pushes the limit of several genres, while also blending them together. Check this one out IMMEDIATELY for an unforgettable listening experience.
