YetepHailing from across the pond (Gloucestershire, UK to be exact) is a rising Dubstep and Riddim master who goes by the name of Adam James, a.k.a. Badklaat. While the 30-year-old became active in the scene back in 2010, he’s been making more and more appearances lately on lineups around the country, making him a perfect candidate for this week’s DJ to Watch.
After a string of releases on Never Say Die’s Black Label and some of the hottest releases in the realm of dubstep, including the 2015 “Head Crush” and the 2017 “Knuckle Sandwich,” James is now working alongside other big-name Never Say Die talents, like Megalodon, Trampa, and TrollPhace. He’s also released epic remixes of tracks by fellow bass producers Excision, Sullivan King, and more.
James is respected for his less-is-more approach to releasing music, with an average of just three to four productions a year. This ensures quality in every release he puts out. He’s also developed a reputation for incorporating some groovy basslines, helping him stand out from the rest. “It’s all about the vibe and the groove – that’s what keeps the track riding. Otherwise it’s just noises. It’s boring.”
Badklaat shows no signs of slowing down anytime soon, so make sure you keep this one on your radar. Be sure to catch him as he makes his Arizona debut at Bassrush Massive Arizona on Saturday, August 25. Grab your tickets here.
