YetepAfter 3 years of high-level production and collaboration, not only do Getter fans get to hear a full slate of new music, but get to see a vastly different and also highly anticipated side to the artist. VISCERAL is a 12-track album out on Mau5trap that takes the listener into the next dimension of his life and sound, including experiences of rejection, heartbreak, and intense experiences which have lead to his most beautiful work to date.
The ridiculous compilation of tracks are almost a complete 180 degree flip of what we are accustomed to with the famed DJ/Producer and Rapper. Emotionally and musically on par with the likes of Porter Robinson or Flume, he blends his impressive electronic ability with a very melodic story of hard times and healing. Also including work on VISCERAL is Audio Opera, Allan Kingdom, Nothing, Nowhere,, Sweetsound, Midoca, Name UL, Njomza, Party Nails, and Joji, some of which are abnormal collaborations that are impressively executed.
Leading off the project is “Purgatory” an animated instrumental, leading into a dashing futuristic beat, showing off wide production skills that we already knew existed, but in great fashion. “Part of me,” “All Is Lost,” “Best Of Me,” and “Made For You (Alone)” all do his new sound more than justice, as we are revealed to less of an album and more of a remarkable work of genuine art. “Release” sets itself from the pack, which brings his vocal chops to front and center while crafting what is a super relaxing song. Getter’s known presence in hip-hop is a felt in “Bleed,” a sick song for those who love that side of his production. Bringing up the vibe are “Hold On Tight” and “Solo,” two staple songs that will surely end up on all kinds of playlists everywhere. Rounding out the conceptual album is “On My Way Out” another marvelous and moving song featuring Joji, completing what could end up being one of the best albums of 2018. To add to what he has already given us, Getter is currently creating and immersive tour experience which we can expect in 2019. Keep an eye out for tour announcements and if you haven’t already, get familiar with one of music’s most talented producers.
