A balaclava-wearing producer of stern (if frequently humor-laced) bass house tracks, Malaa surfaced in 2015, unidentified, though an early press bio dropped a crumb by referring to him as Parisian. Fool’s Gold Records hosted the debut Malaa single, “Pregnant,” immediately after which Tchami’s Confession label became the supplier of roughly a dozen singles and EPs across 2016 and 2017. Among Malaa’s most popular releases during this period were “Notorious” and the Tchami collaboration “Prophecy,” while the artist also began to accumulate remix credits, highlighted by his commissioned work on Skrillex and Diplo’s Jack Ü track “Mind.” In 2018, Malaa and Tchami went on the No Redemption Tour, promoted with a compilation of the same title that featured exclusive remixes. Now, Malaa is on his Illegal Tour, and it’ll be dangerously good.

12/8: Dirt Monkey @ Gentle Bens
Dirt Monkey, aka Patrick Megeath, has carved his uplifting, bouncy, and unique sounds within the Denver, Colorado dubstep scene and has gained international acknowledgment with his punchy and playful sound design. In 2012, when the industry was just starting to get attention and artists were still trying to get their foot in the door, Dirt Monkey released “Intergalactic” an out-of-this-world collaboration with dubstep producer MSD. This song has become buried in Dirt Monkey’s extended discography but remains one of the best-hidden treasures from the artist. His tracks have gained support and captivated audiences via many pioneers, such as Skream, Rusko, Excision, A-Trak, Virtual Riot and more.

London-based House/Techno duo Nick Harriman and Alfie Granger-Howell, better known as Dusky began their rise to fame back in 2011 with their critically acclaimed LP, “Stick By This,” via Anjunadeep. The album was named album of the year by Radio 1’s Pete Tong. They went on to produce several other successful singles and EPs, proving themselves leaders within the UK underground world.
