YetepWith music crafted with ambient synths, hypnotizing vocals, and a transparent energy, it’s no surprise that Melvv earned himself an opening spot on San Holo’s upcoming album1 tour. Melvv’s sound is mesmerizing, it’s playful yet meaningful at the same time. Some tracks are completely bouncy and danceable, while others are somber ballads best used in time of reflection. His music gives me the same overload of emotions I felt when I first heard Louis the Child’s Love is Alive EP. Take a look at Melvv’s latest track “Heatwave (feat. More Giraffes)” below.
Because of Melvv’s heartfelt style and profound melodies, we are making him this week’s DJ to Watch.
Jeffery Melvin got his start in 2016 in Wisconsin. After dropping out of school his first year to pursue music full time under the name Melvv, he landed a spot on tour with Louis the Child and Big Gigantic, as well as a set at the DoLab at Coachella that same year. Melvv signed with Atlantic Records, and the rest is history. He continues to play shows all over the country and recently finished up a full U.S. tour with Hippie Sabotage.
Melvv is stopping by Flagstaff on April with San Holo. Grab tickets here.
