Qrion Stuns With Debut Album ‘I Hope It Lasts Forever’

Momji Tsukada—better known as Qrion—has us starry-eyed over her debut album, I Hope It Lasts Forever, out now via Anjunadeep. The album follows the recent success of singles “Proud” and “Your Love,” both of which are a stunning testament to her talent as a producer.

I Hope It Lasts Forever was born of a surplus of creative energy that Tsukada found during COVID lockdowns. She spent her time in San Francisco, reflecting on the fond memories of her childhood in Japan; the resulting album is a beautiful and versatile collection of mesmerizing melodies, emotion-evoking vocals, and pulsing bass. She masterfully creates a powerful story of introspection. The tracklist is littered with tunes reminiscent of 90s dancefloor anthems and pay homage to her relationship with her father and her childhood. Tsukada subsequently released a music video for “Proud” in conjunction with the album, shot in her hometown of Sapporo, Japan. The disco-saturated masterpiece tells an extended sentimental visual story, with scenes from her youth, including home-video footage of Momji playing the piano with her dad. When describing the process of creating I Hope It Lasts Forever, Qrion speaks to the deeply personal nature of the album and the special place it holds in her heart. She hopes that her music, and this album in particular, becomes a part of other people’s memories, just as her own memories have been immortalized in its tracklist.
