YetepAfter last week’s controversy surrounding Will.I.Am’s new track with Chris Brown, “Let’s Go”, Will.I.Am broke his silence to Kiss FM in regards to claims that he took Arty & Mat Zo‘s 2011 track “Rebound.”
“Arty is a dope producer so I wrote this song to Rebound this last year,” said the former Black Eyed Peas member. “I got in touch with Arty and showed it to him… but something happened and hopefully we can resolve the issue.”
“It’s sad that it’s turned into a fiasco but hopefully it’s resolved, because I’m a fan of those guys. I contacted them last year and we’re fixing it now.”
Will said that he thought the licensing was taken care of prior to the song’s release.
Arty previously claimed that no one from Interscope (Will.I.Am’s label) contacted Anjunabeats, which released the original “Rebound” back in 2011. Through Twitter and Facebook, the trio of Mat Zo, Arty and Jono Grant, a member of trance group Above & Beyond and head of Anjunabeats said that they first heard the use of ‘Rebound’ in ‘Let’s Go’ when the song was released on Youtube.
Stay tuned for more updates on this developing story.
