Artist Spotlight: HerShe

Rising star HerShe has been multitalented and self-taught since her formative years, picking up beatboxing, DJing, and producing, all before the age of 20! Winning numerous beatboxing competitions and increasing her sense of self-reliance. She added rapping to her skillset along the way, creating an effective and versatile sound that has carried her far. Her beatboxing skills add a distinct wobble to her sound and MAX OUT the rhythm. HerShe has worked (and performed) alongside iconic acts such as Zeds Dead, Wreckno, and Seth David. Her consistent advocacy has given voices to dozens of groups including women and LGBTQ+ within (and outside of) the industry and culture. HerShe’s thorough involvement in her productions and great use of her platform help her voice stand out, providing the same for others in need.

“BODIES” is an EXPLOSIVE track with a dark Rezz-like hum and cascading instrumentals. Bells and steel clicks add to the track’s percussive notes. The ominous beat grows more intense with plampy drums and choppy drops. The vocals are finely tuned and altered to dance with the varying beat. The razor sharp wubs gallop like horses firing shurikens. Canyons of bass rise to the skies and back down again. With plenty of BWAMPs for even the most seasoned of ravers. The beat gradually silences. Being taken over by the iconic bells and clicking effects from before. Synth shuffles menacingly over a distorted sample before launching the beat into overdrive. Wubs are joined by laser fire and splashy accents. The tempo increases numerous times in the second half. Adding more and more elements at a breakneck pace, while still staying grounded. “BODIES” then suddenly fades out. Thoroughly blowing our minds.

This song is a perfect example of the unique edge that her beatboxing skills give to the production. HerShe is on an amazing trajectory that shows no signs of slowing down. Keep an eye out on the great things that she has in store!
