Yetep“Somewhere Up There” features three incredible artists. GorillaT is a rising star known for his wobbly tracks with primate vibes. Big Gigantic is an electro-jazz duo who incorporate live instrumentals into their shows for maximum effect. Born I is a versatile rapper who has made guest appearances alongside acts like Spag Heddy, LUZCID, and Jessica Audiffred. This adds an electronic backdrop for his great flow to vibe with. These three artists combine into a force to be reckoned with, resulting in a euphoric track.
“Somewhere Up There” begins with Born I’s impeccable flow and a reggae/dub style beat. The first verse covers optimism, self-love, and refection. Featuring great lines like:
“I remember when my mental health was suffering. I was struggling. No hustling, only buffering. Truthfully the only thing that saved me was the love within. The way I learned to talk to myself as if I was a friend. So if you ever feeling like it’s getting rough, take a look in the mirror and say I’m enough!”
The track then ascends to the heavens and expands into a kaleidoscopic sky, breaking into the first wonk-filled drop. This drop sounds like a combination of GorillaT and LSDREAM’s sounds. The instrumentals bend and break to the drumbeat, featuring a combination of wubs, squeaks, and choppy bass waves. The first drop ends, bringing us into to second verse. In this verse, Born I finds worth in his life while still being “nervous thinking about my purpose.” The verse goes on to present a very collectivist view of love that starts with loving yourself, so that it can be shared around the world. Big Gigantic’s sound really shines through during the verse, painting an elegant melody for Born I to work with. Sharp keyboard hits help ring in the next drop.
The second drop immediately launches into the stratosphere with an instrumental tapestry of stars over plampy drums. Scratch effects and primate sounds echo throughout the drop, increasing in intensity for the last thirty-five seconds of the track. “Somewhere Up There” ends with a complete tonal shift, spotlighting Big Gigantic’s funky saxophone over some serious glitches.
“Somewhere Up There” is a SERIOUS banger that keeps you guessing throughout. It is a perfect blend of these artists’ unique sounds and skillsets. Showcasing their strengths to form a juggernaut of sound. The lyrics are very positive and leave a powerful impact on the listener by reminding them that they matter and that love is the answer. “Somewhere Up There” embraces connection and has a hell of a lot of fun doing it! Listen to this bop ASAP.
“And even though it’s raining over here, I know the sun is still shining SOMEWHERE UP THERE!”
