YetepWHYEL, with Panda Funk Records, joined us for the Pre-Independence Day Release Pool Party at Talking Stick Resort, last Friday. WHYEL, one of the talented, new faces recruited by Deorro and Panda Funk, entertained us all with his performance. The Eastvale, California DJ brought the crowd together with a selection of different genres, mixed effortlessly. You couldn’t guess what you would get next! From Hardstyle and Moombah tracks, to Drum and Bass and Trap, he knew how to please the crowd and make them dance.
Prior to promoting this show I had never heard of WHYEL before, however, he instantly sparked my interest. Being the Hard Dance fan that I am, I was hooked as soon as he threw Showtek and Noisecontrollers’ ‘Get Loose’ into the mix. I hadn’t heard that song in years and it brought back good memories! I decided to reach out to him on twitter to learn more about him and his appreciation for the harder styles. He was extremely kind and helpful, and took some time out of his schedule to answer a few questions for me.
How long have you been dj-ing?
I have been DJ-ing for about 9 years now, producing for about 4 years.
Tell me about your passion for the harder styles of music, who’s your favorite artist? Favorite track?
Harder music holds so much more aggression and energy then other styles. I gravitate to those things, which leads me to Hardstyle, Bass Music, and Hardhouse. I don’t have a favorite artist but I have a song coming out soon with my brother Carnage and that’s my favorite song right now.
What artist inspires you most?
Skrillex. He continues to push boundaries and innovate with everything he touches.
I enjoyed your set that included so many genres thrown together seamlessly, would you like to talk about what led you to this style of mixing?
I like to always keep the audience on their toes. You never know where I’ll take you next. Trap, Moombah, Hardstyle, Bass Music, anything. The one thing that stays consistent throughout my set is the energy and aggression with my song selections.
Did you enjoy the Phoenix crowd and would you like to play for us again?
I had a blast. I love it when the crowd allows me to take them all over the BPM scale and toss different songs at them. And of course, I can’t wait to be back.
A message for fans!
Love you guys. Thank you for getting wild and crazy with me. Rage on.
Phoenix would love to have you again, too, WHYEL. We are anticipating your new track with Carnage, and can’t wait to hear what else you have in store for us! Thank you for your feedback, and I wish you the best of luck with your musical journey.
Keep up to date with our summer Release Pool Parties at Talking Stick Resort to witness other great talent like WHYEL, and have an awesome time with your friends.
