If you haven’t already heard, Beatport.com is essentially a candy store for EDM lovers. Unlike iTunes and other music purchasing sites, Beatport’s sole purpose is EDM, such a beautiful thing. In this inaugural Beatport Breakdown, we will span across 3 genres as well as the number 1 overall track on the website, and will provide insight and analysis of the best of the best in current EDM.
Deep House: Take It Easy – Gerson Jackson (Sonny Fodera & Mat.Joe Remix)
This simple yet groovy track provides consistent and catchy baselines and vocals that give this track a funky house feel that makes you wanna dance the night away.
Electro House: Phat Bass 2016 – Warp Brothers, Wolfpack
Electro house has revolutionized EDM in the sense that it has spawned is own subgenre that is referred to mostly as “Big Room House”. Phat Bass 2016 fits that bill to perfection, with commanding, clean synth lines and epic build ups, this track is sure to make a mainstage appearance at a festival near you.
Dubstep: Like A Bitch – Zomboy
With out a doubt the most recognizable artist on this weeks list, Zomboy is back at it again (no vans required) with another instant classic. A main stay in any good bass set, Zomboy provides us with another epic vocal lead into a wub filled drop that all bass heads love to get down to.
Beatport BEAT OF THE WEEK: Oh Baby Dance – Basti Grub, Natch & Dothan
This weeks Beatport Beat of the Week is Tech house gold, Oh Baby Dance is a funky yet creative original track that provides steady bass lines, claps and gives the traditional “boots and cats” sound that many (including myself) look for on any night out on the dance floor. The clean production and catchy vocal samples gives a deserving number 1 spot to this track.
