Premiere Date Set For Martin Garrix and Carl Cox’s Documentary Film ‘What We Started’

When you’re a DJ, releasing a documentary is considered a milestone as far as your career is concerned. The likes of Swedish House Mafia, Steve Aoki, and Hardwell have all had the opportunity to have their faces and names featured on the big screen. Now it is Martin Garrix‘s and Carl Cox‘s turn with their feature film What We Started.

The documentary starts out with a history lesson of the origins of electronic music. It begins from its inception in 1980’s guiding the viewer through its evolution to this day.

Although the film was about both Carl Cox and Martin Garrix, a majority of the focus was really on Garrix. The producers still wanted a juxtaposition of different viewpoints about the progression of electronic dance music and its culture which is why they included both legend Carl Cox and the extremely successful Martin Garrix to work together in the production.

“This is a film that honors the spirit of and gives a discerning perspective on different generations of this movement in an unprecedented way and leads you on a globe-trotting journey that explores a dynamic and multi-layered industry,” says Pete Tong, Executive Producer.

What We Started is set to premiere at the LA Film Festival on June 15th. It should be quite an interesting and informative spectacle to see.
