Meet Phase One of Your Goldrush Lineup!

Last week we announced 29 artists who will be performing at the first ever Goldrush festival this fall. We’re bringing together the best of EDM and hip-hop for one incredible weekend full of tunes. We’re pleased to introduce you to the first Phase of artists:

Marshmello is an anonymous producer (although we’ve heard the rumors!) that specializes in bass-forward trap beats. He’s chosen to stay hidden because as he himself has implied, that is all you really need to know about him; the artist has been pushing a “just enjoy the music, don’t worry about me” mantra since he first appeared. Despite the anonymity, Marshmello’s career blew up in 2015 when he began releasing tracks online, including remixes of Zedd’s “Beautiful Now,” Jack Ü’s “Where Are U Now,” and others. From there came shows at New York’s Pier 94, Pomona, California’s HARD Day of the Dead festival, and Miami Music Week. In 2016, Marshmello released a compilation of his previously released tracks, Joytime, which reached number one on a digital top electronic albums chart. Included on the album was the single “Keep It Mello,” featuring rapper Omar LinX. He’s also been hitting the festival circuit hard, including a phenomenal set on EDC’s main stage this year.

Migos is one of the hottest acts in hip-hop right now. The powerhouse trio from Atlanta consists of Quavo, his nephew Takeoff, and his cousin Offset. Many times, newcomers make their mark by signing to the label owned by an already established rapper, but sometimes unpredictable wild cards are thrown into the mix, like Migos. These boys are super dedicated and started getting their name out there by hitting clubs in their city every week and buying the DJ a drink to play their music. They must have done something right because tracks like “Bad and Boujee,” “Fight Night,” and “T-Shirt” have turned them into a household name. In 2013, Migos released their breakout single “Versace,” and continued to build a fanbase when Drake remixed the song later that year. They released Rich Nigga Timeline in 2014 and it was declared one of the top 10 rap albums of the year by Rolling Stone. They released their second album, Culture, in January of this year and have been non-stop traveling on tour.

He’s best known for his huge personality and tracks like “Get Low”, “Anywhere” “Bun Up The Dance,” fan favorite  “I.D.G.A.F.O.S.” and the list goes on. He’s released works on multiple labels including Dim Mak Records, Mad Decent, and OWSLA. In 2012, Francis became the first moombahton artist to achieve the number-one spot atop the Beatport releases chart with his Ep Something, Something, Awesome. In 2014 he released his massive hit “Get Low” with DJ Snake and his debut album Money Sucks, Friends Rule. Fast forward a few years and he’s still bringing the same energy we’ve grown to love so much. He’s released a slew of singles lately including “Anywhere” and “Say Less” with G-Eazy. Between Las Vegas residencies, consistent festival performances and releasing music on a regular base it’s fair to say he stays busy, just part of the reason he’s one of the most successful DJ’s in the industry.

Hip-hop could certainly use a real bona fide rockstar. That’s where Lil Uzi Vert comes in. The Philadelphia rapper flaunts a vision and fashion sense just as loud as his “futuristic trap” sound and dynamic voice. He doesn’t simply stand out in a crowd; he draws everyone right to him. Lil Uzi Vert first picked up a microphone in high school. He spent countless hours honing his craft, along the way he carved out a distinct style that reflects his love for Wiz Khalifa as much as it does his passion for Marilyn Manson. In 2015, he began to set the internet on fire. There was his explosive appearance on Carnage’s single “WDYW” alongside A$AP Ferg and later his turn on “Big Racks” for Young Thug’s Slime Season 2. All in which lead to the ultimate feature on the certified platinum hit “Bad & Boujee” with Migos. Having earned an RIAA-certified gold single with “Money Longer” & an RIAA certified platinum single with “You Was Right,” being dubbed the most listened to artist of 2016 on Soundcloud, & covering the Sex Issue of The Fader he stands poised to ignite hip-hop with his own fire.

RL Grime is a certified trap god. In 2012 he teamed up with producer Salva for a remix of Kanye West’s “Mercy,” which has garnered over eight million plays on SoundCloud. His debut Grapes EP was released in 2012 and his follow-up EP, High Beams, was released in July of 2013 on Fool’s Gold Records. It debuted at number eight on the Billboard’s Dance/Electronic Albums chart, and number one on the iTunes Electronic Chart. His debut studio album, Void, was released in November of 2014. It features guest appearances from the likes of Big Sean and Boys Noize among others. A remix album followed, as did “Tell Me,” and a killer remix of the Weeknd’s “The Hills.” He’s become best known for his trap remixes and notable singles. In 2016 he released “Aurora” and “Waiting,” a collaboration with Skrillex and What So Not. “Reims” and “Stay for It” featuring Miguel dropped earlier this year. He’s been hard at work on his forthcoming album “Nova” and the accompanying tour.

The true champion of bass music, Excision hails from Kelowna, British Columbia. He’s the founder of Rottun and Destroid Music labels and a bass music conglomerate that has shaped the sound of modern Bass music. Excision has created a vast roster of allies that has only bolstered his spot as a warrior of bass music. Armed with a library of destruction and filth, Excision has time and time again tested the limits of electronic music with vastly different sets that encompass a full range of genres. After successfully touring since 2013 with his Executioner stage, Abel has been pushing boundaries of any concert experience with his latest stage production and tour The Paradox 2016. This new concept utilized 3D video-mapping technology to display animations that moved in sync with the beat. Visuals like a stampede of safari animals and a giant robotic cat paired with his 150,000 watt PK sound system. A few blasts from this face-melting bass is strong enough to shake the bottle in your head. Talk about good vibrations!

Although his sound has reached the masses at events like Electric Daisy Carnival and Coachella, Claude VonStroke has always been committed to the underground vibe that gave his business the thriving status that it has today. CVS created the Dirtybird label in 2005, a year later releasing the house track “Who’s Afraid Of Detroit?,” gaining the Detroit native who has now relocated to California some well-deserved attention. Claude Von Stroke leads his dirtybird crew around the country performing at what they like to call BBQ’s. He even hosts a weekend-long campout, The Dirtybird Campout. In 2016 he was voted America’s Best DJ. This was a huge achievement for producers like CVS who tend to stay away from trends and the mainstream. His unique style of electronica funk has attracted the attention of fellow music stars and he has worked on records for Rihanna, The Chemical Brothers, Disclosure and Green Velvet. What fans really love about Von Stroke is not only his musical skill but his genuine joy and drive to create fun for everyone who attends his shows or festivals. This man is always smiling! He wants you to feel just as relaxed as he is and to simply enjoy the experience. True to his art, there’s no need for a showy ego.

Andre Haglund, better known as the talented rising artist Drezo, has made strides in his producing career through his devotion to the music and his journey in chasing his dreams from Phoenix to LA. Not more than two years after releasing his first tracks, the now 24-year-old has become a staple in the industry with a sound of his own. He’s best known for tracks such as “Heaven,” “Malice,” and his “Need You” remix with DJ Hanzel. He’s also just released a new EP Dead and touring schedule. In a music scene full of tiring trends, it’s rare for an artist to break the mold and make a statement creatively that people can connect to. Drezo challenges the mainstream standard by staying true to his own powerful underground sounds of house music.

Sacramento-born and raised brother duo Hippie Sabotage started to make music in the mid-2000s. Working closely with local producer Chase Moore during their early career, they mixed the cultural melting pot vibes of their hometown with hip-hop and produced beats for rappers such as J. Leake and Yukmouth. They released their own material on the EP Vacants in early 2013 and followed this with a couple more singles like “White Tiger” and “Sunny” throughout the same year. In 2014 singer Ellie Goulding posted their remix for “Stay High” by Swedish singer Tove Lo on Instagram that they began to get worldwide attention. The song reached over a million hits following Goulding’s endorsement and signaled a bright future for the duo.

Injury Reserve is an Arizona-based alternative rap trio whose music is highly reminiscent of golden age hip-hop acts like A Tribe Called Quest and Black Sheep. While their songs are playful and exuberant, relating stories of everyday events and daily struggles, their music is also urgent and socially conscious, criticizing the music industry and addressing issues such as racism. Consisting of MCs Ritchie with a T, Stepa J. Groggs and producer Parker Corey, Injury Reserve formed in 2014 and released their debut EP Cooler Colors that year. In 2015 the group released their full-length debut Live from the Dentist Office. In 2016, Injury Reserve released the singles “Oh Shit!!!” and “All This Money.” Both songs appeared on Floss, the group’s second full-length, which was released at the end of 2016.

San Holo is the future beats trap connoisseur that might be dubbed the fastest growing current electronic talent. Making his debut in late 2014 with the COSMOS EP on Heroic, he garnered the attention of all the major tastemakers. This resulted in a friendship with the Parisian Point Point crew, who released his “Hiding” ft. The Nicholas single on their Filet Mignon compilation. The world took notice, with San Holo growing to over 180,000 SoundCloud followers within the span of a year. His single “We Rise” came out on OWSLA, garnering Skrillex and Diplo’s support and amassing millions of plays. The Victory EP came out on the Canadian label Monstercat, renowned for having one of the most engaged and digitally oriented audiences.

Ventura-based producer SuperDuperKyle is heavily influenced by the ’80s, and not just the decade’s brand of hip-hop. He debuted in 2013 with “Beautiful Loser,” a record that featured guest spots from G-Eazy and was released by the vanity label Hey Kyle. A year later, the album was picked up by Indie Pop, the same label that released his 2015 effort, Smyle. Filled with positive songs, a spot by Chance the Rapper, and video game samples, the album cracked the Billboard 200 albums chart. His massive radio hit “I Spy” with Lil Yachty has garnered almost 300 million plays on Spotify alone.

At this point in time, Isabelle Rezazadeh, also known by her DJ name Rezz, has gained quite the following with her modern twist to the sinister dark realm of music we call techno. She’s gained support from many of our favorites including Skrillex, Deadmau5, and many more. Currently 21 years of age she has transformed herself from the fan on the other side of the barrier to the DJ and Producer on stage. Her EP Something Wrong Here was an irresistible success, as well as her edgy collab with newcomer k?d, “Fourth Impact.”

Phoenix native now based out of Downtown Los Angeles, Mija, has established herself as one of the most innovative DJs of this era. In just a couple of years, the 25-year-old has already traveled around the country playing festivals such as Bonnaroo, TomorrowWorld, and Burning Man. In 2014, Mija released her first single on indie record label OWSLA, “Crank It” Ft. Lil’ Jon, with co-producer Ghastly. Mija has grown into quite the superstar since her start with her ‘Fk A Genre’ brand, clothing line, and of course, impressive music.

Malaa is one of the hottest producers in the game right now, and not just because of the ski mask he’s always sporting. He consistently puts out bangin’ tunes that find their way into club and festival sets alike. His most recent project, Illegal Mixtape, features 12 tracks from the masked DJ’s favorite producers, including a new collaboration with Gerry Gonza alongside 10 unreleased tracks from producers like Jace Mek, Dillon Nathaniel, Maximono, Ghostea, Bellecour, Dateless and many more. Having released two singles earlier this year, “Bylina” and “Contagious,” fans should already have an idea of how hard Malaa really goes.

All round girl-boss/bad bitch GG Magree is in the thick of an impressive twelve months. Setting the bar for 2017 high, GG has progressed from being Australia’s girl next door — grillz and all — to one of the most exciting female talents to emerge out of Australia’s electronic industry in recent times. The bad ass, multi-talented Trap/Bass DJ, vocalist, producer, entrepreneur and all-round entertainer continues to take the world by storm over and over again through her impressive touring schedule, sell-out shows, international collaborations, celebrity allies, brand partnerships and original releases.

You never forget your first love, and for Barclay Crenshaw, that was hip-hop. Better known to fans as Claude Vonstroke, he started a little electronic empire with his boutique-turned-trend-setting Dirtybird label. He still runs the thing out of his house with his closest friends, aka the artists. They’ve got their own camping festival and successful series of BBQ events, plus he’s got his own family and kids to take care of, but the last few years, there’s been this nagging feeling to get back to his rap roots basics. He released his self-titled debut album, Barclay Crenshaw earlier this year.

Over the years, Keys N Krates have become one of Toronto’s biggest exports after a slew of singles and EP’s, huge sets at some of the biggest festivals across the globe, and racking up millions of plays online. Where a lot of acts in the EDM scene are seen behind a laptop or some other setup, the trio consisting of Adam Tune, David Matisse and Greg Dawson, perform as a full band with keyboards, drums and decks, something Dawson says in an interview with Exclaim is vital to what makes them such an enjoyable live act.

New Orleans rap duo $uicideboy$ combined their talents in 2014, but the pair were already well-acquainted. Cousins Ruby da Cherry and $lick $loth grew up together, however, they initially veered down different paths. Ruby dabbled in punk rock, influenced by the Misfits, Minor Threat, and Leftover Crack. Meanwhile, $lick was a DJ and songwriter. Once they joined forces, the result was a dark blend of horrorcore glitch-trap bubbling with booming bass, ominous atmospherics, and occultish, drugged-out rhymes. Signed to G59 Records, the Boy$ released the ambitious ten-part series, Kill Your$elf. By 2016, with SXSW and international shows under their belts, the recordings continued, notching nearly 30 full efforts within two years. Radical $uicide, their 29th release, arrived in the summer of 2016. The five-track EP produced by Getter peaked at number 17 on the Billboard Rap charts.

In the last two years since Paris-based DJ Shiba San came onto the scene, he’s been making a name for himself and building a huge following. He’s technically been DJing for over ten years now, but he became somewhat of an overnight sensation with his breakout hit “OKAY”. The track hit #1 on the Beatport charts before it was even officially released on the Dirtybird label. He comes from a hip hop past that contributes to his unique sound, something commonly referred to as “ghetto funk”. He’s a two-time winner of the “Best Underground Dance Track” award at Miami’s Winter Music Conference, always finding himself at the top of the underground charts despite becoming a well-known name.

Snow Tha Product, a native of California, but currently residing in Texas, is an underground phenomenon and sensation taking the scene by storm in a way that has put male MCs on alert. She’s a beauty and a beast – looks and lyrical skills on the microphone, respectively. Physical stature aside, she stands as tall as any female MC in the game and can wreck a track in fluent Spanish or English with a handful of male MCs trying to match her lyrical level, as she did on Capea El Dough P City Remix.

Having come up through the ranks at a startling rate, Australian Sonny Fodera is now leading from the front. Over the last couple of years, the man originally turned on to the dance by Derrick Carter has fomented his own groove driven, emotive brand of house that now resonates around the world. Turning heads right from the off was his compilations on Deep Down and Defected, which found Sonny adding his remix flair to a bunch of classics, and after that came sophomore effort After Parties & Aeroplanes. Again a collaborative affair featuring the likes of Doorly, Gene Farris and Cajmere, it was a more jacking, sharp-edged treat designed for maximum dance floor impact, but was also stuffed with unforgettable vocals that saw Sonny stepping up his game.

Equal parts novelty and natural ability, Indonesian rapper and Internet personality Rich Chigga (born Brian Imanuel) captured mainstream attention in 2016 with his viral hit “Dat $tick.” The track caught international eyes and ears after a reaction video was released to promote the song; it featured American rappers like Ghostface Killah, 21 Savage, Flatbush Zombies, and Desiigner, who reacted with mostly positive praise. Ironically wearing a pink polo and a fanny pack, Imanuel let his deep voice and cadence speak for itself, challenging preconceived notions about how Asian rappers could sound. Soon after, Imanuel signed with CXSHXNLY — home to fellow Asian artists like Dumbfoundead and Keith Ape — and continued to build his rap career.

19-year-old Miami rapper, Smokepurpp, started gaining traction in the summer of 2016, when he dropped two videos, “WOKHARDT” and “Ski Mask,” within a month of each other. Booming production and a garbled delivery, along with tons of pictures posing with guns, gave way to increased attention, and he’s quickly become one of the premier rappers to rack up millions of plays on a majority of his SoundCloud songs.

“Walker & Royce” started when Sam and Gavin, having known each other in and out of the dance scene for years, finally began working together in 2011. Crosstown Rebels boss Damian Lazarus noticed one of their very first releases, a remix of SAARID’s “Future Lately”, the result was the Crosstown Rebels EP You’re Not Welcome and with that, Walker & Royce was launched into the dance music spotlight. Their EP Sister was picked by Pete Tong as his Essential New Tune. Most recently sees the duo joining the ranks on Claude Von Stroke’s seminal Dirtybird Records with the release of the “Boy” EP and “Hit Dem Draws” and Green Velvet’s legendary Relief Records with their chart topping release “Peep This Cat”, continuing their accession within electronic music’s elite artists.

East Coast hip-hop duo The Underachievers formed in Brooklyn in 2011, comprised of rappers AK and Issa Gold. AK had originally been using the stage name “The Underachiever” and applied the moniker to the duo when they began. Their curiosity for psychedelics bled through into a somewhat trippy sound that combined frantic rhyme styles with heavy, experimental production. A video for one of the duo’s early tracks caught the attention of critically acclaimed producer Flying Lotus, who signed the group to his label Brainfeeder in 2012 and released two of their mixtapes the next year. Proper debut full-length Cellar Door: Terminus Ut Exordium saw release in August of 2014. The conceptual Evermore: The Art of Duality followed in 2015 with the album split into light and dark sides.
