Hakkasan Group Announces Jewel Nightclub at Aria Hotel & Casino Las Vegas

Since November 2014, Aria Hotel & Casino has been missing something. The lower level of the building has gone dark and lifeless. With the closing of Haze Nightclub late last year, Aria lost part of what makes a Vegas Resort a Vegas resort. But now, coming in Spring 2016, Hakkasan Group, the people responsible for two of the largest and most successful superclubs in Vegas, Hakkasan and Omnia, is bringing their third Strip endeavor to Aria, Jewel.

Hakkasan is partnering with MGM Resorts and Dubai World to bring life back to the nightscape of the luxurious resort. “There was a lot of enthusiasm for us doing this sooner rather than later,” said Hakkasan Group President Nick McCabe, “but I give credit to MGM Resorts in giving us the kind of lead time we need to design and invest to develop the kind of product this market expects from Hakkasan.”

The size of the superclub will not be nearly as large as Hakkasan or Omnia, which sit at 80,000 sqft. and 75,000 sqft. respectively, however what they are looking for with Jewel is to make a fine balance between “wow, luxury, and intimacy.” Jewel should match the luxury and decadent atmosphere of the Aria and to that Nick McCabe stated that, “What we are very interested in is establishing elegance with a great piece of architecture in a strong property, a fantastic property, and we feel we can match that level.” In addition, much like Hakkasan and Omnia, Jewel will feature two levels, a main room and a mezzanine floor. To them, Jewel is the perfect descriptor for the new nightlife spot, “It has an intimate nature. A jewel is very precious,” and that is exactly what they are shooting for here.

As far as the music and the technology going into the new nightclub, a full wall of double-sided LEDs that will rotate a full 360 degrees is being designed to contribute to the extravagance of the club… think Omnia’s massive chandelier and the effect that it has on the experience. Jewel needs to be “more than just a nightclub in a casino.” To that, the music programming will be diverse and eclectic. Of course, Hakkasan Group has become synonymous with huge electronic acts, but with this they are taking a bit of a different direction. Electronic music will certainly be present, but “it’s not wholly electronic. It’s commercial and DJs, a mix of everything that makes a party atmosphere.” According to Neil Moffit, they don’t want to make any solid statements regarding the nightclubs acts for they do not know for sure “what’s hot today and cold tomorrow.”

Jewel Nightclub will be opening in March 2016, so mark your calendars and book your flights to Vegas because this is going to be an opening you’re not going to want to miss. Subscribe for updates on Jewel here.
