YetepSession #4, the break, is officially in progress for Avicii’s giant music collaboration project: Avicii X You. Potential collaboration partners are encouraged to create a beat/rhythm inspired from the simple beat provided on the site.
Avicii X You is the world’s largest music collaboration project, created by Swedish DJ/producer, Tim Berg, better known as Avicii. The challenge provides an opportunity for fans, producers, DJs–potential collaborators—to download the music that Berg will provide in sessions to acquire all the different song components for his next single.
Creative submissions for the break are now open from Jan. 30-Feb. 5. Session #5, focusing on “effects”, is set to open for submissions on Feb. 6 soon after.
In the last update, we learned that a contribution was chosen as the winning track for the Melody competition. With the winning amount of plays, now at a stunning 40,232, Kian Sang is the melody collaborator.
The winner for the bassline portion has also been selected. Naxsy DJ-Compositeur is at 9,841 plays so far and was selected as the contributor for the bassline.
“Break is kind of where you let the song breathe… there’s a million different ways to do it, too,” said Avicii on the break portion of songs. “I try not to go too far away from the song in general [with the break].”
Stay tuned for Session #5 to unravel, as well as who will trump the competition for beat/rhythm. Check out the Avicii X You site for a version of the track on its way to completion!
