AVICIIXYOU Officially Launches With Session 1: Melody

After his hit single, “LE7ELS”, Avicii, the young Swedish DJ/producer is seeking some new inspiration… and he’s looking to YOU.  The beginning of Avicii’s latest project launches today!

Avicii is working on “the world’s largest music collaboration,” according to his latest site: www.aviciixyou.com.  AviciiXYou is a challenge that provides an opportunity for fans, producers, DJs–potential collaborators—to download the music that Avicii will provide in sessions (phases) to acquire all the different pieces of a song for his next single.

Avicii – Avicii X You – Session #1 Melody

Since the melody is an integral part of any song, Avicii’s provided the pitch, key and chord layout for contestants to work with for Session #1.  The Avicii x You trailer, located on the site, hints that the project will unfold in different “sessions” or phases.  The trailer hints that coming sessions may include contributions for chords, bass, break, beat and fills.

Has Avicii simply run out of ideas or is this his effort to differentiate himself as a producer as EDM becomes more and more mainstream with remixes by Flo-Rida (who mixed Avicii’s hit “LE7ELS” into the radio sensation “Good Feeling”) and pop music collaborations by Calvin Harris?  Perhaps Avicii is looking to engage his fans, if nothing else.
