Yetep18 countries. 18 #1 spots. Avicii‘s electronic-grass (so to speak) single ‘Wake Me Up‘ worked its way to the hearts of international dance fans, setting the stage for an entirely new sub genre of dance music. The tunes official music video happens to combine the folk aspects with typical, thumping Avicii style.
A girl and presumably her younger sister (or her daughter, because that’s the day and age we live in) preside in a country town out west. The good looking girls stick out in the worn out town full of squares. They just can’t fit in, but the elder one knows that there’s more out there then this lame town of theirs.
Lucky for her, Ultra Music Festival is just a short horseback ride away, meeting true friends, and, eventually, bringing the little version of herself with her. That forsaken-looking girl at the end is missing out!
#True is ready for pre-order on iTunes, released everywhere on September 17. I look forward to this album, because it’ll mark something fresh in the electronic genre, something we seriously need. Avicii is going bold with his first album, and we should encourage more artists to do the same; step outside of the big room anthems we’ve become accustomed to.
I tip my hat to you, Tim Bergling.
