HDYNATION Goes Hi Def: Party Thieves’ EP “Undrafted” is Showing Us Just How That Sounds

As if the famous trap duo, Flosstradamus, hasn’t had their HDYNATION sweep everyone up already… Hi Def Youth, their new label, is going to continue the takeover. Brand new and already dropping bombs, Party Thieves is kicking this label off proper with the New York-based producer’s new EP, Undrafted.

If you expected anything less than heavy hitters, you probably need to reevaluate that thought. It is always a cool experience to see what “hits home” with an artist, and we get a little bit of that experience with Party Thieves on this new EP. It starts with an intro dedicated to his nephew Jon, on “For Jon”. We get more on the emotional side of things from the get-go, as the intro pulls you in with drawn out piano chords, exuding a melancholy tone and vibe.

From here, it’s all hard hitting and time to trap out. “Death Row” is nothing short of an ominous feel, incorporating “delicate snare patterns”, synth leads that are in your face, and shuffled vocal chops that will keep pulling you further and further into the “Death Row”. Leave it to Party Thieves to take you somewhere as filthy as an NYC sewer, and somehow leave you desiring to stay there for as long as you are sucked in and listening to this tune.

“#ZOOTED” gives us that slow and steamy trap beat that we are all so addicted to – the one that makes us sit back with a whole lot of “Yes” written all over our face while we listen and enjoy simmering in every “slow-churning” second.

The real riot begins and ends with “BADD”. This track brings us the heat that trap is oh-so-capable of, including the “percussion fueled drops and a militant-style drum-kick progression” that we feign and hope for when we’re busy falling down the Trap. Now there’s a huge hell yes and a big fat thank you to the Trap Gods.

Clearly, we can’t and are never going to get enough. Go ahead and peep the tour dates below for both Party Thieves and Flosstradamus! The goodness and fun doesn’t have to stop. Flosstradamus is still kicking it in high-gear and just celebrated their second annual and sold out HDY Fest at Red Rocks Amphitheater. Their new production is nothing short of kick-ass, and if you are so obliged to check it out for yourself (As you should be) they have a jammed pack schedule at which you can find them doin’ their thang: Bonnaroo, Panorama, Lollapalooza, and Mad Decent Block Party AZ!
