YetepHave you ever found yourself in an unimaginable situation and wondered “what would Diplo do”? Well, you’re not alone. What originally started as a promo video for the Mad Decent Block Party Tour, where Dawson’s Creek star James Van Der Beek pretended to be Diplo, is now being turned into a television series.
Day In the Life of Diplo
Viceland is a cable station from Vice Media and A+E Networks. They’re known for airing shows you wouldn’t see on other networks. What Would Diplo Do? will be Viceland’s first scripted television show, written by James Van Der Beek himself. Diplo will be an executive producer alongside his manager and Van Der Beek. Diplo is no stranger to the world of producing; in 2014 his show Major Lazer, an animated television series, premiered on FXX.
Diplo is one of the most successful DJs today and people seem to be fascinated with his charades. The series will depict a fictional version of Diplo and his life on tour. When describing the show to Deadline, Van Der Beek said, “Louie meets WorldStar HipHop crossed with This Is Spinal Tap.” The show has been approved for a six-episode run and is set to premiere later this year.
