YetepPrior to 2012, Duke Dumont was producing music, but without stamping his own name for credit on the track. In fact, he was behind the scenes producing music for other artists. It wasn’t until his release “I Got U” became a recognized track under his personal alias, earning him street cred as Duke Dumont.

Duke’s obsession with computer games as a child has grown into a career using computer software to produce music out of what he considers nothing. However, that doesn’t mean producing good music electronically is a simple task. In an interview with The Line of Best Fit, Duke explains, “The actual technicality of knowing how to DJ isn’t that hard, but when I’m producing music for other people or doing my own stuff the expertise level on that is so overlooked.”

Without a doubt, Duke Dumont is top-notch talent. His releases have been bumping in clubs around the world, some you may not even know to be his but he in fact produced them. Duke seeks out talented singers of all sorts to work with, famous or not. With that, he has an entire folder of music waiting for a fellow musician to help finish the pieces with their vocals.
Even though he has worked with big time pop stars and other musicians, Duke keeps his presence low key. It’s about the music to Duke, so he keeps it low key on such releases. However, many of us know Duke for his recent hits, “Won’t Look Back,” “The Giver,” and of course, “Ocean Drive.”

On Sunday, April 2, Duke Dumont will be joining us for opening weekend of the Release Pool Party series. Hit up your local promoters for promo codes on the event!
