Formed in 2007, was the one of a kind drum n bass duo, Camo & Krooked. Both Camo, born Reinhard Rietsch, and Krooked, born Markus Wagner, had been active since 2002 before they teamed up and released their first singles from 2008 onward.
Camo & Krooked are known for their diverse style that favors drum n bass, but also includes elements of house and dubstep. So far this year the duo has released a few singles including “Ember,” “If I Could,” and “Mandala,” and now they’ve graced us with atwo-hourr mix that features over 100 tracks.
Although Camo & Krooked serve as heavy influences in the drum n bass scene, they display an eclectic song selection far beyond their signature genre, as expected for a mix of such magnitude. Within the two hours of music, are tracks from the likes of Flume, What So Not, Mura Masa, Stimming, Stephan Bodzin, and Adriatique.
But not to worry for all the drum n bass heads out there. Along with its diversity, the mix also has plenty of drum n bass to go around. The duo include over 30 of their own originals and remixes, and pieces from other major players in the genre, like TC and Dimension.
For Camo & Krooked’s first go at a BBC Radio 1 Essential mix, I’d say it was a tasteful success. Take a listen to see for yourself, and catch Camo & Krooked at the Monarch Theatre on June 24th to witness the real deal.
