Armed with an arsenal of trap-esque aural bulldozers and progressive synth elements, Buku is continuing his pathway of trap-takeover with his new track fresh off the boards, “Align.”
This Pittsburgh native has already been taking the trap world by storm with his practiced approach of combining the Southern production with an east-coast sensibility which smacks you straight in the face. Buku has already collaborated with powerhouses such as Bassnectar, Pete Tong, Paper Diamond, and G Jones, and is known for his remixes of tracks by Minnesota, GRiZ, Nick Catchdubs, Brillz and Tropkillaz.
Although we have referred to quite a few artists who have that “punch” quality, Buku brings the fire in his newest track by mixing a sleek understanding of balance and power. Buku gained breakout success when his fan-favorite “Front to Back” landed #3 on Spotify’s “Global Viral 50” playlist and now he’s back with another hit.
“Align” is a track that takes the listener on a journey through a build-up of party elements, but cools down with rough progressive house synths which blow the competition out of the water. There is no secret that trap has garnered its fair share of criticism from more mainstream circles which decry the overt masculinity of sound, but Buku doesn’t pretend to have invented the genre: “Align” is a reflection of the progress the sub-genre has made and displays his dedication from improving areas in the genre which required attention.
Buku seeks to change the game by making trap a viable genre in itself. While there may be many imitators trying to capture that iconic sound of complex melody mixed with unadulterated energy, we can clearly see Buku has already crossed the finish line.
