YetepAfter collaborating with talents like Kaskade and Tchami, playing some of the biggest festivals in the world, and pioneering a signature bass house style, Brohug’s young career is already decorated with impressive feats. Consisting of experienced and seasoned producer/DJs John Dahlbäck, Christopher and Niklas Lunde, it’s no surprise that the group has consistent, high-quality music releases. After focusing on individual music projects, they became friends and formed Brohug. With a quest to make music that ignored the precedence of mainstream EDM, their latest release, “Charlie,” does just that.
“Charlie,” out now on Tiesto’s label imprint Musical Freedom, is a record that brilliantly blurs the genre line. Fusing elements from disco with lush horns and groovy drum fills, the verse sections bring the track back in time before delivering overwhelmingly modern-sounding drops. Regarding the production of their new single, Brohug commented: “We took things back to when House was House. ‘Charlie’ includes everything we fell in love with: the baseline, the beats, the disco influence.” Beautifully fitting the sonic aesthetic found in the trio’s label imprint “Brohouse,” you can stream “Charlie” here.
