If you were to attempt to describe Portland-based producer EASTGHOST‘s sound, you’d end up with adjectives like captivating, unpredictable, and melancholic, to name a few. The artist does not fit into one defined genre, instead his output reflects whatever current inspiration sparks his creativity. This week’s DJ to Watch is unlike anybody else, so read on to get to know him a little better.
EASTGHOST first popped on the map back in 2015 with his debut album, Omniscient, They. The concept LP was made up of eight tracks, setting the bar for the experimental sound we would receive from him in coming years. Since then, EASTGHOST has continued to test boundaries and explore new facets of sub-genres.

In 2017, EASTGHOST released “Blue Mountain Heartland,” along with the unfortunate news that he was postponing his next album to allow for the space and time he needs to produce a quality finished product. We still haven’t seen another album, but we hope it makes an appearance soon.
EASTGHOST is now signed to San Holo’s bitbird label, as well as part of an internet-based music collective based in Portland, Oregon called Stop Taking Your Life So Seriously, or #STYLSS.
Be sure to catch this week’s DJ to Watch as he supports San Holo on his album1 tour. He’ll be making a stop at the Orpheum Theater in Flagstaff on Sunday, April 7. Click here to purchase tickets.
