YetepSkrillex is one of the most well-known DJ and producer in the industry, especially in the dubstep world. He was one of the first figures to bring those heavy-hitting beats to popularity, leading others to follow suit. Known for his beat drops and snare sound, he has revolutionized dubstep. He has taken some years off of releasing new music but has finally just released a new track with Boys Noize and Ty Dolla $ign called “Midnight Hour.” This new song is not anything like Skrillex has produced before, this is house music.
The song opens up with emotional vocals from Ty Dolla $ign, which quickly cuts to uptempo beats. You can hear the seamless integration of both producers unique sounds in this track. The beats, while not dubstep-level filthy, hit hard for house. Although this song starts off slower like a classic 2000s R&B song, the rest of it is fit for the club with it’s strobe-lit house beat. Skrillex is not the first big name to switch it up and create house music, other big names such as Diplo are too. House music has taken the world by storm and everyone is experimenting with the sound. You can catch Skrillex live at Decadence 2019, and maybe he’ll change up his set to be more house-centric this time around. You can purchase tickets for Decadence 2019 here.
