YetepA techno powerhouse, Charlotte de Witte is a leading light in a global movement. Her ascent into the upper echelons of dance music stardom is a triumphant feat. An accomplished DJ, producer, label owner, and radio show host, de Witte champions the techno landscape with her raw, dark sound ranging from minimal to acid.

Born in Ghent, Belgium, de Witte fell in love with electronic music after her first encounter with Ghent’s underground club scene in 2009. Fueled by a newfound passion for dance music, she began DJing at 17. After two short years, de Witte won a DJ competition to open the main stage at Tomorrowland. She released her first EP in 2013 under the stage name “Raving George,” an alias she adopted to avoid the prejudice faced by women in the industry. In 2015, de Witte discarded her moniker with the release of her Weltschmerz EP, commencing a new era as she transitioned into a darker, edgier sound.
De Witte founded her flagship, KNTXT, in 2015. What began as a live event and radio show expanded into a record label of the same name in 2019. Most of de Witte’s records have been released on her boutique label following its launch, including her most recent EP, Apollo.
Her records are stark and aggressive yet drip with the pure simplicity of techno. A glimpse through de Witte’s discography reveals a collection of pounding rhythms, acid basslines, experimental beats, and haunting vocals used sparingly.
While original records comprise the bulk of de Witte’s discography, the techno maven also dabbles with remixes. Some notable remixes include her chart-topping remix of 90s classic “The Age Of Love” with fiancé Enrico Sangiuliano and her 2019 remix of Eats Everything’s “Space Raiders.”
Charlotte de Witte is a force to be reckoned with. From maintaining a stacked tour diary and flourishing label to hosting thriving KNTXT events and becoming the first techno DJ (and woman) to headline Tomorrowland, de Witte continues to dominate a vibrant techno scene.
Don’t miss out on your chance to see this techno phenomenon! Charlotte de Witte will be playing at Cityscape in Phoenix on February 25th. Click here for more information.
