YetepDisclosure, the dynamic electronic duo behind the hit song “Latch,” just unveiled their fourth studio album, Alchemy. While they have no plans to tour for this album in the near future, we can only hope they do, as Alchemy is an album that promises to leave a mark on the industry.
Alchemy is a remarkable body of work that encompasses various styles, ranging from infectious house beats to groovy disco rhythms and captivating garage sounds. With no guest features or collaborators, the focus remains solely on the exceptional producing skills of Guy Lawrence and Howard Lawrence. The album takes listeners on a captivating journey through the brothers’ emotional landscape, touching upon themes of heartbreak, resilience, love, and joy, acting as a reflection of different parts of Disclosure’s recent journeys.
The album commences with the euphoric house track, “Looking for Love,” a vibrant and fun exploration of the quest for connection. It is followed by “Simply Won’t Do,” a song that promises to get you grooving with its fast tempo and fun beats. “Higher Than Ever Before” then enters the album as a compelling garage track that celebrates the discovery of inner strength.
As Alchemy progresses, listeners are treated to a rich mix of sounds and emotions. “A Little Bit” captivates with its soulful house vibe, encouraging listeners to let go of the past. “Go the Distance” emerges as an addicting dance anthem that speaks to the triumph over obstacles and is my personal favorite from the album.
The album reaches its end with the tracks “We Were in Love,” “Sun Showers,” “Purify,” “Brown Eyes,” and “Talk on the Phone.” Each of these songs encapsulates a distinct facet of love, from the exhilaration of new connections and first love to the heart-wrenching anguish of lost romance.
Alchemy stands as a testament to the exceptional talents of the Lawrence brothers. Time and time again, they deliver. Alchemy is a beautiful celebration of freedom and creative expression, bound to captivate and delight fans of Disclosure and electronic music enthusiasts alike.
