YetepBreaking onto the EDM scene in a big way with his 2022 release, “Level 9,” Mport continues to use popular culture and some of the most memorable samples of our generation to make bangers. Based out of Denver, Colorado, Mport is one of the most unique and creative bass producers whose popularity is growing like a wildfire. This is thanks to two primary factors, and what I would say are the two things that make Mport stand out: his ability to make wonky wubs and his ear for a hit sample.
With the release of “Level 9,” Mport put himself on the map in a big way. A juicy beat and bass drop mixed with one of the most memeable moments within our EDM community, “Level 9” uses the sample from an interview where a festival-goer describes himself being a level 9 turtle. This video erupted for months across the electronic music community and the release of this banger was just the right timing to launching Mport onto the big stage. He has continued this creativity and fusion of popular culture with wonky dubstep in his most recent EP, Scene Selection.
This comical compilation of future bass, liquid dubstep, and samples from some of the most iconic scenes is a perfect example of everything that Mport has to offer. In this nine-track EP, Mport samples some of the greatest pop culture moments including Spongebob and Dodgeball just to name a few. By introducing and using samples from pop culture, Mport reminds crowds that it is okay to laugh and enjoy the moment. He is able to masterfully use some of the best lines from TV and movies and integrate them perfectly with his wonky wubs. With a sound and flow similar to artists such as Tvboo and Liquid Stranger, Mport is one that you are going to want to pay attention to. Be sure to check out his most recent EP which came out today! If you like what you hear or just want to come check out what all the hype is about, Mport will be coming to Sunbar along with Tvboo, Smith., and Shlump on Friday, November 29th. Get your tickets HERE while they last!
