Late June has been releasing electronic music consistently since 2015. He had an official remix of Ark Patrol’s smash hit “Let Go,” which gave the track a more relaxed feeling. Back in 2019 I was listening to his track “Don’t Mind Me” on repeat and just recently reconnected with his music. I was pleasantly surprised to find he’s transitioned into the house genre while still staying true to his original sound that I’m familiar with.
His most recent track, “Focus,” is a calming house beat that I imagine myself listening to on hikes in foggy mountains littered with trees. According to Late June, “I wrote the ‘Focus’ chord progression in my head while staring at the waves at the beach, just at sunset golden hour, purple, golden light shining down with my daughter digging a hole next to me, smiling and asking me questions.” This track does an excellent job of making you feel present in the current moment, whatever it is you’re doing. It would fit well in the study and lo-fi playlists that were extremely popular a few years back, but I believe recently lo-fi house has made a resurgence and this track would fit excellently there.
He is currently building into an album titled Mending, with an anticipated release date of December 6th. Previously released tracks including “Focus” and “Fragments” will be included on the album. Personally, I’m excited to hear more from Late June and will keep an eye out for new tracks as they release!
