YetepFabian B. made quite a first impression on me when I discovered his single “Dark Orchestra” through an Apple Music recommendation. The song lives up to its name with dark, rumbling basslines and multiple layers of electronic string effects. Sharp hi-hats and distorted kicks make up the rhythm section, giving the track a solid foundation to work with. The full-bodied beat gives way to quieter sections that fade into glitchy rolling waves of sound. This is especially notable around the song’s halfway point, followed by a gradual drum build and radiating bass waves that crash in from all sides. Dark dubstep wobbles are introduced in this section, giving “Dark Orchestra” genre-bending status. These wobbles dramatically change up the soundscape before the beat returns to a familiar digital orchestra. Subtle choir notes add a majestic note to this dark backdrop, once again bending expectations and genres.
“Dark Orchestra” is a cinematic track that could be in action, adventure, or horror films in equal measure. The song’s versatility spans genres and settings. It would be equally effective in a red-lit underground club, or a vibrant outdoor festival. The rumbling rhythms are perfect for shuffling and fist pumping, while the dubstep notes are sure to bring out some serious bassface. “Dark Orchestra” is a perfect introduction to the work of Fabian B. and I cannot wait to hear what his future tracks have in store for us.
