YetepLast June, bass duo Boombox Cartel released “NBD,” a dubstep hybrid record that boasts high-energy drops with a recurring minimalistic approach. Complete with high-octane breakbeats and aggressive basslines, the original was a festival masterpiece. Eleven days after the “NBD’s” release, the duo put out a remix pack which showcases other interpretations of the original to please the shufflers, headbangers, and everyone in between.
One of the most interesting remixes comes from Phlegmatic Dogs of Moscow. Known for their aggressive yet danceable house style, the dogs’ remix reformats the original into a four-on-the-floor groove with a juicy bass lead and overwhelmingly rhythmic percussion. Dubstep duo ATliens also had a chance to flex their creative muscles with a festival-ready remix showcasing a wide variety of sound design and musical depth. The remix pack also features the talented Dutch producer Dyro who flipped the original on its side with bass house influences, and of course Hekler, whose remix takes the sound of modern riddim to the next level.
You can catch the masterminds behind the original track at this year’s Trapfest in Tuscon alongside Barely Alive, YehMe2, and Bailo. Grab your tickets here!
