Spin it Back Saturday: Spencer Brown – ‘Chalice’

For this week’s Spin it Back Saturday, we are spinning it back to the classic Spencer Brown track, “Chalice.” The track recently celebrated it’s five year anniversary and is one of the powerful sounds that helped Brown gain the recognition he deserves. “Chalice” debuted on Swedish based label LE7ElS (now called PRMD) that used to be run by Avicii himself. After this track released, Spencer Brown immediately saw his career begin to blossom. In 2014, he received radio support from BBC Radio 1 and Sirius XM. In addition, he gained support from monumental artists Above & Beyond, Avicii, and Pete Tong.  “Chalice” debuted with both an original mix and a radio edit, take a listen to the original mix below.

When it comes to a mainstream big-room sound, Spencer Brown shies away and instead focuses on creating a unique sound you won’t hear anywhere else. His festival and show appearances are always refreshing. His use of melodic builds and concentrated breaks create an uncanny orchestrated symphony of sound. It’s incredible to see how much Brown has grown in the 5 years since the release of “Chalice.” Last year, Spencer Brown took over Belgium at Tomorrowland and supported Above & Beyond in Hong Kong for Group Therapy #300. It’s going to be interesting to see what milestones Brown reaches in the following 5 years.
