YetepThis weeks Repeat Button enters into a world of “electro-trance”, as I’ve decided to call it; a moody, yet seductive melody with a heavy drop and pummeling baseline.
Originally released almost a decade ago, “Push Through” by Signum was premiered on ASOT 004 in 2003 if that gives you an idea of the age of this track. This tune is about the graduate from the 4th grade.
Yet, Suspect 44 revived this decade old tune for Armada in a very new, very distinctive way.
Crossing genre lines, this rework of a decade old song builds listener anticipation through a sensational climb to one of the most addicting landslides (the word ‘drop’ doesn’t do it justice) I’ve ever heard.
The inaudible yet enchanting voice putting her input gives a funky 70s catch to the tune. It almost sounds as if some charming go go dancer is losing her mind to this song, which inspires me to move whenever I hear it.
This bi-national trio (Luke Shipstad of the US and Hoz Sabirr and Zhiar Mahmoud of The Netherlands) have released a couple hits over the past few years on the Anjunabeats label, featuring their tunes “Japanese Schoolgirls” and “Neon Feel” on the last couple Anjunadeep compilations, for the truly deep trance fans. And don’t forget their emotional “Thoughts Uncovered”, released on Enhanced Progressive last August.
This classic of a classic closed out last year on a high note for the explosively genre-less crew, releasing on Beatport’s electro house lists December 20th; a solid early Christmas present for house fans, trance fans, progressive fans, electro fans….let’s just say EDM fans as a whole.
Since the song found its way to my speakers, it has been on a loop all week. Stop playing it? Ha! Good one!
